Celebrating Mother’s Day with two mothers is a bit tricky. Who gets to sleep in? Who gets breakfast in bed? Who gets a massage?

I could make the case that Tasha got 16 years of Mother’s Days before me so the next 16 should go to me. But I’m a generous person, so we’ll celebrate the day together (and truthfully, neither of us are sentimental about this holiday).

The best part is that Dowell will be home from college starting on Friday, so we’ll have both boys. Maybe we’ll take them out to lunch somewhere; the palates of a teenager and a toddler are remarkably similar (cheesy rolls, chicken strips, ketchup, cheeseburgers-hold-the-lettuce). Us mommies will have a cocktail or two and make the teenager drive us home.

And maybe Tasha can pick up the check.
